Are you passionate about emergency communications interoperability and advancing the response capabilities of our nation’s first responders? Are you looking to engage in an organization with representatives from public safety associations and emergency responders in the field to promote governance, best practices, and lessons learned related to public safety and emergency communications?

Join SAFECOM, a Presidential E-Government Initiative to improve interoperability, allowing emergency responders to communicate more effectively before, during, and after emergencies and disasters. SAFECOM membership consists of associations interested in promoting public safety communications and at-large-member practitioners interested in advancing public safety communications interoperability. SAFECOM uniquely brings together representatives from state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, appointed and elected officials, and major inter-governmental and national public safety associations. SAFECOM’s membership also coordinates with other elected and appointed officials and key emergency communications stakeholders to gain insightful information on communications challenges across the nation and provides input on lessons learned and best practices to the public safety community.

We are currently seeking additional at-large membership from experienced and cutting-edge public safety practitioners, representing state, local, territorial, and tribal managers, operators, and support-level personnel with a background in emerging public safety communications, cybersecurity, and information technology disciplines. Applicants must possess practical experience with communications and interoperability, and have the desire to learn. Applicants must also represent a relevant discipline within the public safety community, currently serve on statewide and/or regional interoperability governing bodies, represent a relevant public safety association, or possess expertise in a specific area relevant to the public safety community.
