Fire & Rescue professionals mark your calendars! The Department of Homeland (DHS) Security Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) will be attending the annual Fire Department Instructors Conference International (FDIC), April 20-25, 2020, Indianapolis, IN, to showcase technologies that protect communities and save lives.
You are invited to attend our two 4-hour training workshops on Monday, April 20 – to learn how DHS is applying emerging technology solutions, such as gaming software and immersive visualization such as 3D augmented and virtual reality, to enhance fire safety training in areas of critical incident and incident command operations. Demonstrations and trainings will allow security planners to assess incident areas prior to deployment of physical assets.
The Enhanced Dynamic Geo-Social Environment (EDGE) is a virtual training platform that first responders and education institutions can use to plan for a coordinated response to critical incidents. The game-based software training application provides a safe environment in which first responders and educators role-play complex scenarios, improving and reinforcing coordination, communication and critical decision-making skills. Participants will learn how to run an effective exercise using EDGE to train critical emergency incidents on a school campus.
The DHS S&T funded Incident Command Simulator allows first responders to investigate and brainstorm opportunities to deepen fire command training. During the workshop participants will move through the scenario-based simulation as a trainer, an incident command trainee and an observer, as well as collaborate in breakout sessions to explore opportunities and challenges in technology development and adoption. This interactive workshop will explore the application of new knowledge, skills, and attitudes into operational practice using scenario-based simulation as a competency data collection tool.
FDIC International offers 34,000+ Fire & Rescue professionals from 65+ countries around the world, quality world-class instructors, classrooms, workshops, H.O.T. evolutions and the most innovative products and services available to the industry displayed by over 800 exhibiting companies.
DHS S&T will continue trainings over three additional days at our FDIC Exhibit Booth, #6155 in the Indiana Convention Center, April 23-25, 2020. For more information on FDIC exhibiting, go here.
Our exhibit showcase will be a collaboration effort among government and industry partners, working to help DHS enhance capabilities on the front-lines.
