DHS Initial Plan to Implement Plain Writing Act of 2010 Requirements Summary

This plan was prepared by stakeholders for review by leadership, including the designated senior official for Plain Writing at DHS. The plan includes:

  • The leadership structure, including appointments, roles and responsibilities, internal stakeholders, and a scope of action on before and after documents in six categories for each Component to be done annually.
  • Training tasks, including a concept of operations for train the trainer, a soft inventory of existing training resources and documentation and future plans.
  • A description of annual report elements, including what will be subject to reporting for the training task, how the best-of before and after documents will be selected for inclusion in the report and a process to produce and publish the report that includes feedback from a stakeholder panel.
