Message from Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas on the Observance of September 11

Release Date: September 10, 2021

Colleagues,

Through the work you do every day, you honor the lives that were lost as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Through the work you do every day, you help ensure our democracy, our principles, and our American way of life are everlasting.

I know that tomorrow all of us will take time to focus on the memories of those we lost and those who suffered, of the tragedy of the day twenty years ago and its profound meaning.  Please also take a moment to reflect with pride on the work you do and the difference you make in the life and future of our country.

Thank you for everything you do.

Alejandro N. Mayorkas
Secretary of Homeland Security

With honor and integrity, we will safeguard the American people, our homeland, and our values.
