Estimated LPR Population and Number Eligible to Naturalize among Recent Arrivals

Body

Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), also known as “green card” holders, are immigrants who have been granted lawful permanent residence in the United States but have not yet become U.S. citizens. The table provides estimates of the recent LPR population and subpopulation eligible to naturalize living in the top 50 CBSAs, including county-level breakdown within CBSA as of January 1, 2022. These estimates are based only on the cohort of LPRs that have entered the United States since 2012, and account for naturalization, derivative citizenship, emigration, and mortality. For more information about estimation methodology, please refer to the LPR Population Estimates report.
