DHS Honors Law Enforcement Ahead of 2024 Police Week

The Department of Homeland Security will honor the Department’s law enforcement officers and recognize the fallen during a ceremony May 9 at the DHS Headquarters.  As the largest federal law enforcement agency, Police Week holds a special meaning for the men and women working at DHS.  In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.  (DHS Video by Multimedia Services Division/Released)
