The Federal Partnership for Interoperable Communications (FPIC) is pleased to announce the launch of its website: www.dhs.gov/safecom/fpic. A link to the FPIC website is also listed on SAFECOM’s Partner Associations and Related Links webpage.

FPIC’s primary goal is to address interoperability among the public safety community at all levels of government, foster intergovernmental cooperation, and identify and leverage common synergies. FPIC serves as a coordination and advisory body to address technical and operational wireless issues relevant to interoperability within the public safety emergency communications community, interfacing with voluntary representatives from federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal agencies. Membership includes a broad range of federal, state, and local representatives who focus on improving interoperability among the public safety community at all levels of government and addressing common related communications issues. FPIC addresses topics and questions concerning interoperable communications, security services, spectrum (related to interoperability), and standards.

In coordination with the Emergency Communications Preparedness Center (ECPC), SAFECOM, and the National Council of Statewide Interoperable Coordinators (NCSIWC), FPIC also serves as the public safety wireless communications community’s liaison to industry, periodically obtaining technical updates and equipment reviews from vendors.  FPIC has a collaborative relationship with the SAFECOM and NCSWIC Joint Technology Policy Committee to support SAFECOM and NCSWIC goals. It also serves as a technical advisory group to the NCSWIC Executive Committee.
