Blood Donations

Release Date: July 1, 2020

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the country is facing a growing blood and plasma shortage. The need is increasing as more patients are scheduling procedures requiring blood transfusions that were postponed due to social distancing. The blood shortage also impacts other surgical patients, accident victims, and patients suffering from cancer. Healthy individuals are being asked to donate blood, platelets, and AB Elite plasma to help those in need.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that COVID-19 does not pose any risk to a blood or plasma donor during the donation process and The American Red Cross has put additional precautions in place to ensure the safety of the donors and staff. If you are able to donate, please do. You can search for a location near you using the Red Cross Appointment Scheduler.*
