Readout of Deputy Secretary Mayorkas' Meeting With Mexican Secretary of Tourism Enrique de la Madrid Cordero

WASHINGTON—Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas yesterday met with Mexican Secretary of Tourism Enrique de la Madrid Cordero to discuss cooperation on a number of shared secure travel interests.

During yesterday’s meeting, they discussed collaborative efforts to facilitate the legitimate flow of travelers between our two countries. Last year, Mexico joined the United States and Canada in outlining the first steps toward the creation of a North American Trusted Traveler network. Once implemented, the tri-lateral agreement will make it easier for eligible travelers in the United States, Mexico and Canada to apply for expedited screening programs, helping to promote legitimate travel across the continent.

Deputy Secretary Mayorkas also highlighted the importance programs like Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, Automated Passport Control (APC) and Mobile Passport Control (MPC) have in streamlining and expediting travelers’ entry into the United States, while maintaining the highest standards of security.
