WASHINGTON—On Nov. 4, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh C. Johnson will announce plans to expand air preclearance operations to additional foreign airports at a media event at Newark Liberty International Airport. Through preclearance, each traveler undergoes immigration, customs, and agriculture inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection before boarding a direct flight to the United States. Joining the Secretary will be Todd Owen, Executive Assistant Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection; Paul Fujimura, Assistant Administrator, Transportation Security Administration; and Tom Engle, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Department of State.
