Blue Campaign Events: Human Trafficking Awareness Month (January 2017)

Jan 10-12

  • Event - The Blue Campaign in collaboration with ICE, USCIS and CBP will be conducting trainings and awareness presentations in Hawaii for staff at the Honolulu International Airport as well as for local law enforcement officers. During the presentation the Blue Campaign will focus on general human trafficking awareness, Blue Lightning Initiative and will distribute public information materials. This event is closed to the public and press.

Jan 11 (Wed)

  • Human Trafficking Awareness Day
  • Event – Blue Campaign in collaboration with the DC Office of the Mayor, Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants will host a roundtable discussion on human trafficking prevention and awareness efforts from a local to national perspective. DC Mayor's office Press room. Open to the public. Time TBD.
  • Event – The ICE New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Office will distribute material and engage the public on human trafficking indicators in New Orleans, Louisiana Riverfront area. This is an all-day event open to the public and press.
  • Presentation - The ICE Washington D.C. Special Agent in Charge Office will conduct a presentation on Human Trafficking indicators in Portsmouth, Virginia. This presentation is open to the public and press.
  • Presentation – The ICE New York Agent in Charge Office will conduct a presentation on the new Continued Presence (CP) protocols and human trafficking awareness at Restore, a non-governmental organization in Queens, New York. Open to the public.

Jan 12 (Thurs)

  • Event – The Woman in Homeland Security is hosting a panel of Homeland Security Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations agents in their fight against human trafficking in Arlington, Virginia at noon.

Jan 14 (Sat)

  • Event – ICE San Diego Special Agent in Charge Office will have a booth at the San Diego, California Freedom now fair handing out brochures and pamphlets about human trafficking. This event is open to the public and press. Time TBD.

Jan 17 (Tues)

  • Training – The ICE Washington D.C. Special Agent in Charge Office will hold an educational discussion for Virginia Commonwealth University students about "sugar babies" similarities to human trafficking. This event is open to the public and press from 10-11:30 a.m.

Jan 18 (Wed)

  • Training – The ICE Washington D.C. Special Agent in Charge Office will conduct a training session for KPMG on how local business can make a difference for human trafficking victims. This event is open to the public and press from 12-1:30 p.m. at KPMG headquarters.
  • Training – The ICE Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Office will conduct a human trafficking Victim Assistance Program (VAP) training in Long Beach, California. This event is open to the public and press from TBD.
  • Event – The Department of Homeland Security will host an event [Link no longer valid, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8H6FFB9] with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where the DHS Acting Deputy Secretary Russ Deyo  will discuss the Department's Blue Campaign and how the private sector can help combat human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. Open to public and press.
  • Event – The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office and ICE in San Antonio, Texas will host an event to inform the community on DHS efforts in stopping human trafficking and to describe how the processes work when victims receive relief through DHS. Open to the public.

Jan 19 (Thurs)

  • Training – The ICE Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Office will meet with the San Gabriel Human Trafficking Task Force to conduct a presentation on Human Trafficking in Pasadena, California. This event is open to the public and press from TBD.

Jan 21 (Sat)

  • Event – The ICE Washington D.C. Special Agent in Charge Office will host a human trafficking awareness session on how traffickers recruit teens in Roanoke, Virginia. This event is open to the public and press from 12-1:30 p.m.

Jan 28 (Sat)

  • Event – U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, ICE and the Blue Campaign will participate at Calvary Church to raise human trafficking awareness in the community and other stakeholders in Orlando, Florida area.

Varies

  • Presentation – The ICE Denver Special Agent in Charge Office will conduct presentations on human trafficking indicators at COAST (Club Operators Against Sex Trafficking) in various cities during the month. This event is open to the public and press.
