Secretary Johnson to Travel to Texas

WASHINGTON – On Feb. 20, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will travel to Laredo, Texas to participate in the International Bridge Ceremony on the Juárez-Lincoln International Bridge as part of the 119th annual Washington’s Birthday Celebration. Secretary Johnson will deliver remarks on continued cooperation between the United States and Mexico to promote lawful trade and travel between our two nations. 

While in Laredo, Secretary Johnson will also view cargo pre-inspection operations at Laredo International Airport. The Cargo Pre-Inspection Program was formally inaugurated on Oct. 15, 2015. Following the tour, Secretary Johnson will participate in a media availability with Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu and Secretary of Finance and Public Credit Luis Videgaray Caso.

*Credentialed media planning to attend must RSVP to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Public Affairs Office at 956-764-3425 by 4:00 PM CST, Feb. 19. All media will be required to show government-issued photo identification and affiliate issued press credentials prior to being granted access to the facility. On the day of the event, media must be in place by 11:00 AM CST.
