Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF)

Designed for graduate-level students, this program aims to attract to the Federal service outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. The program spans the entire Federal government and is administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Two years. Presidential Management Fellows may be converted to a permanent position upon completion of the program.

Various locations across the U.S.

$45,627 with promotion potential to $66,167 base pay. Additional salary varies by geographic location, from four to 35 percent of base salary. To view locality pay, visit the Office of Personnel Management.

Individuals who have completed within the past two years, a qualifying advanced degree (e.g., masters or professional degree) or will meet advanced degree requirements by August 31 of the year following the annual application announcement must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be able to obtain and hold a security clearance
