DHS Issues Updated DHS Language Access Plan to Support its Workforce and Advance Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) joined interagency partners across the federal government in releasing its updated language access plan.
After receiving and considering over 50,000 public comments in response to a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) finalized a new rule to further incentivize individuals to use lawful, safe, and orderly pathways to enter the United States.
United States Files Forfeiture Action Against Over One Million Rounds of Ammunition Enroute from Iran to Yemen
The Justice Department announced the filing of a forfeiture complaint against over one million rounds of ammunition, thousands of proximity fuses for rocket-propelled grenades, and thousands of pounds of propellant for rocket-propelled grenades that the U.S. Navy seized in transit from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to militant groups in Yemen.
DHS and DOJ are issuing a proposed rule to incentivize the use of new and existing lawful processes and disincentivize dangerous border crossings, by placing a new condition on asylum eligibility for those who fail to do so.

Mayorkas announced updates to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Use of Force Policy as required by President Biden’s Executive Order to Advance Effective, Accountable Policing and Strengthen Public Safety to meet or exceed the Department of Justice guidance on use of force. This policy was crafted as a result of discussions with stakeholders across the Department as well as major national labor organizations to further refine processes to ensure the safety of law enforcement personnel and the communities we serve.
