June 28, 2012– Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today announced the appointment of 11 new members to the Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee (HSSTAC).

Secretary Napolitano today participated in a naturalization ceremony for 137 naturalization candidates from 43 countries held in New York City. Secretary Napolitano administered the Oath of Allegiance and delivered remarks to the citizenship candidates and their families and friends in attendance.

MOORE, Okla. — Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Deputy Administrator Rich Serino and Red Cross President Gail McGovern today traveled to Moore, Okla. where they met with Governor Mary Fallin, U.S. Representative Tom Cole, Mayor Glenn Lewis, and other state and local officials to ensure that first responders are receiving the assistance they need in on-going response and recovery efforts to the severe weather that impacted the region. Secretary Napolitano reiterated the on-going support from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FEMA, and the rest of the federal family for communities in impacted areas, as response efforts continue.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today participated in a meeting with members of the Homeland Security Advisory Council’s (HSAC) Task Force on CyberSkills, where they discussed eleven recommendations under five objectives aimed at improving the Department of Homeland Security’s ability to build a world-class cybersecurity team and a strong pipeline for the future. On October 1, the HSAC unanimously approved sending the Task Force recommendations to the Secretary.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark to join Attorney General Eric Holder and her European counterparts for the biannual U.S.-European Union (EU) Justice and Home Affairs Ministerial to discuss U.S.-EU efforts related to border management, countering violent extremism, law enforcement cooperation, global supply chain security, aviation security and cybersecurity.
Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean to discuss the ongoing partnership between the United States and the Republic of Singapore to facilitate legitimate trade and travel, while preventing terrorists from exploiting supply chains; protecting transportation systems from attacks and disruptions; and increasing the resilience of global supply chains.
