Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Duke to Hold Media Availability in Puerto Rico Today

WASHINGTON – Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke will hold a media availability in Puerto Rico today with Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rosselló. Acting Secretary Duke and Governor Rosselló will discuss the ongoing Hurricane Maria recovery efforts.

Acting Secretary Duke is in Puerto Rico meeting with local officials and first responders. This morning, she met with Governor Rosselló to discuss coordination of response efforts and joined the governor for an aerial tour of Puerto Rico. Also this morning, she will meet with senior officials, including Department of Defense officials, regarding energy, security, and infrastructure on the island. Later today, she will meet with first responders to thank them for continuing to carry out 24-hour life-saving operations.

The top priority of the federal government is continuing to provide life safety and life sustaining resources to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. FEMA and its federal partners are continuing 24-hour operations to reach survivors.
