  • U.S.-U.K. ColoRS Program

    S&T and counterparts in the United Kingdom (UK) are collaborating on various research and development initiatives related to improving homeland security in both nations. One such effort is ColoRS, a partnership with the UK Home Office and UK Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The most recent ColoRS activity involved autonomy and autonomous systems in maritime environments.

  • Waterway Harmonization Factsheet

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) is working with USCG on the Waterway Harmonization Phase II project to develop a methodology to standardize geographic representation of the beginning and end of waterways.

  • U.S. Coast Guard Science & Technology Innovation Center Factsheet

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) partnered with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Research and Development Center to form the USCG Science & Technology Innovation Center. This collaboration assists in defining gaps and requirements, as well as enabling rapid operational assessment and testing.

  • Brenda Abdelall

    Brenda F. Abdelall was appointed to serve as the Assistant Secretary of Partnership and Engagement at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on August 1, 2022.  In this role, she serves as the Secretary’s primary advisor on external engagements and the impact of the Department’s policies, regulations, processes, and actions on state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT) officials, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and the academic community.  She also serves as the Co-Chair for the Department’s Council to Combat Gender-based Violence.

  • Wildland Urban Interface Integration Model Demonstration

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) will host a proof-of-concept demonstration of the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) integration model on August 15.
