The Strategic Solutions Office (SSO) develops Department-wide contract vehicles and is responsible for implementing Category Management at DHS.
Category Management is a holistic approach to managing common capabilities and needs across DHS. Please see the Category Management Annual Report for more information about the current accomplishments made by the SSO team.
Strategic Sourcing encompasses one facet of the activities within the category management framework. Strategic Sourcing is a structured and collaborative process of critically analyzing DHS spend across multiple or all Components to make business decisions about acquiring and managing commodities and services more efficiently. We are accountable for these processes through the Chief Procurement Officer and the Under Secretary for Management.
