August 2, 2021, CIS Ombudsman hosted a webinar to discuss Executive Branch work to remove barriers and support our Nation’s noncitizen service members, veterans, and immediate family members of service members.
Veterans may question the meaning of their service or whether it was worth the sacrifices they made. They may feel more moral distress about experiences they had during their service. It’s normal to feel this way.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis R. McDonough announced a new initiative to support our Nation’s noncitizen service members, veterans, and the immediate family members of service members.
The Department of Defense SkillBridge program is an opportunity for service members to gain valuable civilian work experience with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) during their last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects service members with DHS Components in real-world job experiences.
