We live in the most extraordinary, powerful and prosperous nation on earth, and the 2015 National Security Strategy laid out by President Obama provides equal measures of strength, vision and resolve to continue to advance our leadership in the world.

The 2015 National Security Strategy makes it clear that advancing our Nation’s interests in a world of gathering darkness will require a vigilant, patient and robust Department of Homeland Security “to keep the American people safe from terrorist attacks and national hazards while strengthening our national resilience.”

Thirteen years after September 11, 2001, the tragic day that led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, it is still a dangerous world.  Even so, the United States has never been more prepared to lead the world and our global partners with purpose, with strength and by example than it is today. And the Department of Homeland Security – and the dedicated men and women who are the Department’s eyes, ears, muscle and brains – have never been more resolved to protect the homeland and the fundamental rights and liberties that are our Nation’s birthright.

It is a complicated world, but the 2015 National Security Strategy points the way for an America whose global influence is powered not by our military might alone but by the forceful engines of our economy and timelessness of our ideals and values.
