DHS Honors Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day

May 5th is Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day. Held on this date each year, the day marks the birthday of Northern Cheyenne Tribe of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation citizen Hannah Harris who went missing almost 10 years ago.

DHS released the following video message from Secretary Mayorkas honoring Hannah’s memory and renewing the Department’s commitment to working harder to ensure the safety and security of all communities and people, including our indigenous communities.
