“Obama Administration Officials will travel to Virginia, North Carolina and Vermont on Tuesday, August 30, to survey ongoing recovery and response efforts on the ground following Hurricane Irene.  Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will join United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack to visit Elizabeth City, N.C. to survey crop damage during an aerial tour of Tyrrell County, receive a briefing at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and participate in a media availability.

Later, Secretaries Napolitano and Vilsack will travel to Richmond, Va. to visit the Commonwealth’s EOC and meet with local officials, first responders, and volunteers to reaffirm the federal government’s continued commitment to working with our state, local and community partners and help the communities and individuals affected by Hurricane Irene to rebuild and recover, and participate in a media availability.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Fugate will travel to Vermont where he will tour impacted communities, meet with state and local officials and emergency managers, and participate in a media availability.  More details on the trip will be released once they are finalized.”
