WASHINGTON— Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today spoke with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie separately to underscore the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) important partnerships with states and discuss the continuing support for state and local efforts, including important coordination with law enforcement partners and ongoing recovery to the impacts of Hurricane Sandy.

During the calls, Secretary Johnson reiterated the critical partnership of the state and local officials that DHS works with every day to address common security threats ranging from counterterrorism to extreme weather events, and ensure a safer, more secure, and more resilient homeland. Secretary Johnson also expressed his interest in meeting with both governors in their states in the future.
