WASHINGTON— Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson yesterday spoke with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to underscore the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) important partnerships with cities and communities across the nation—especially New York City—and discuss the continuing collaboration between DHS with local first responders and law enforcement partners.

During the call, Secretary Johnson congratulated Mayor de Blasio on his recent swearing in to office, and reiterated the critical partnership of local officials, including the New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department, that DHS works closely with every day to address common security threats ranging from counterterrorism to disaster response, to ensure a safer, more secure, and more resilient homeland.
