Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Duke to Travel to Puerto Rico Tomorrow

WASHINGTON – Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke will travel to Puerto Rico tomorrow with other senior administration officials responsible for the federal response to meet with local officials and observe the Hurricane Maria recovery. The Acting Secretary has been in constant contact with Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rosselló throughout the response and recovery, and will spend the day with the governor, FEMA and other senior government officials to discuss coordination of response efforts. The top priority of the federal government is continuing to provide life safety and life sustaining resources to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. FEMA and its federal partners are continuing 24-hour operations to reach survivors. Additional details on the Acting Secretary’s trip will be forthcoming.
