Statement by Acting Press Secretary Peter Boogaard on Secretary Napolitano’s Upcoming Visit to Alaska, Russia and the Republic Of Korea

“On July 1st to July 6th, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will travel to Alaska, Russia and the Republic of Korea, advancing strategic Homeland Security priorities and meeting with our international partners.

On July 1st, Secretary Napolitano will travel to Anchorage, Alaska to meet with Department of Homeland Security personnel stationed in the region. While in Alaska, the Secretary will be briefed on a number of issues that the Department, including the U.S. Coast Guard, are focusing on in the region and thank the personnel for their service.

On July 3rd to July 4th, Secretary Napolitano, joined by Department of the Treasury’s Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing Daniel Glaser, will lead the U.S. delegation to Vladivostok, Russia where they will participate in the 4th Annual International Conference on Security Matters hosted by the Russian Security Council. During the conference, Secretary Napolitano will discuss a range of issues, including efforts to secure and enhance aviation security.

On July 4th to July 6th, Secretary Napolitano will travel to Seoul, Republic of Korea to meet with senior Korean officials to discuss supply chain security, and participate in a naturalization ceremony for U.S. service members stationed abroad."
