The Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) invests in the research and development (R&D) technologies, methods, and procedures to counter terrorist attacks. Efforts include R&D to identify individuals or groups intending to conduct terrorist attacks and/or illicitly move weapons, dangerous goods, and contraband. This program also provides threat assessments of high-consequence attack methods such as chemical, biological and explosive threats that terrorists may use to attack the nation.
