National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1994, 2007 edition, Class 2 ensembles include a suit or garment with an attached or separate hood, attached or separate gloves, attached or separate footwear or booties, outer protective boots, and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that is certified compliant with NFPA 1981 for chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN) use. These ensembles provide limited protection to responders at incident scenes involving vapor or liquid chemical hazards where the concentrations are at or above the immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) level, and require the use of an SCBA.
